2 Day Airbrush Makeup Workshop

I am offering a two day airbrush makeup workshop on November 15th and 16th in Denver. It is from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. It will be held at the Colorado Executive Club Building, 1776 S. Jackson Street, Conference Room B, Denver 80210. The building has free visitor parking and plenty of street parking. You may book the class online by clicking on "Book Appointment" and then on "Workshops". The class will start at 10:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m both days. Lunch will be from 1:00 to 2:00. Students are on their own at lunch.

The two day airbrushing workshop is $700.oo and includes your complete Dinair Airbrushing Kit. I chose to use the Dinair Airbrushing kit because it is the least expensive way to start and they have the widest selection of airbrushing colors. I am a retailer for Dinair and I am in no other way affiliated with them.

The kit contains everything you need to get started.
  • 8 Glamour Airbrushing Shades .25 oz.
  • 1 facial moisturizer
  • Compressor, airbrush gun and hose
  • Adapter and plug
  • Set of eyebrow stencils
  • Eyeshadow guide/stencil
  • Airbrush cleaner
  • Instructional DVD

You are required to use your kits during the class. Additional airbrushing colors will be available to you during the class for practice. You will be able to order additional airbrushing colors and accessories after the completion of the class.

If you are not able to pay the full $700.00 at once, you may save your spot by putting down $350.00 and then the remaining $350.00 by November 12, 2009. Your spot must be reserved by November 9th.

The workshop will start with a demonstration of a complete airbrush makeup application (foundation, eyes, brows, blush, lips, etc.). Then students will be given their Dinair Airbrushing kits. We will start out with some simple airbrushing exercises to teach you how to hold the brush, distance and pressure. After lunch, we will break into teams where students will practice on each other.

The second day of the class will include more practice on each other as well as fantasy makeup, paramedical and tattoo cover, and airbrush tanning.

A professional makeup artist must know airbrushing in order to be successful. It is mandatory for high definition television and film.

Airbrushing is:
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Smudge proof and water resistant
  • Wears up to 18 hours
  • Leaves a poreless matte finish on the face
  • If you tear or cry, it will dry right back to its original state
I have been airbrushing for many years and even taught it at Cosmix Makeup Academy in Fort Lauderdale. I personally wear it everyday.

This class is open to:
  • Existing makeup artists who want to stay up to date with the latest skills.
  • Those looking to go in to makeup artistry.
  • Aestheticians and cosmetologists who are looking to get an edge above their competition.
  • Women who want to improve their appearance and interested on airbrushing their own makeup.
If you have any questions about the class or airbrushing, please feel free to give me a call at 303-995-6977 or email me at donnakelly@mac.com.

Hope to see you there!

Mrs. America 2009

I have had the great opportunity to work on two of the most beautiful women that I have met, beautiful inside and out. Dena Curran, Mrs. New Mexico 2009 and Joanna Hamilton, Mrs. Wyoming 2009 were contestants in the Mrs. America Pageant held in Tucson, Arizona just last week. I arrived at the Lowes Ventanna Resort on Saturday, September 5th and starting work that Sunday. The Pageant was a total of three days. One day for interviews, one for the preliminaries and then the finals on the third day. It was a very exciting event. Below are some pictures from the event. (Sorry, I am a makeup artist, not a photographer so they may not be that great.)

The newly crowned Mrs. America was from Missouri.

This is a picture of the girls when they first came out on stage the final night. They had to walk out in a bathing suite in three inch heels and then dance. WOW!

This is Mrs. Wyoming with her Pageant Director, Sheree Chanel. Thank you Sheree for allowing me to participate in such a great event.

Here is Mrs. New Mexico after we did her makeup for the interview. I worked out of my hotel room all weekend long. Isn't she beautiful!

I would really like to thank DJ at Solera Salon for referring me to Sheree, the director. And of course many thanks to Sheree who gave me the opportunity.

My love and blessings go out to Joanna, Mrs. Wyoming and Dena, Mrs. New Mexico. They will always have my continued support.

"So You Think You Can Dance"

I had the great opportunity to work on the television show "So You Think You Can Dance" which was filmed here in Denver at the Wells Fargo Theater March 13th and 14th.  It was a great experience.  I was responsible for the hair styling for Mary Murphy and Sonya Tayeh who were two of the judges for the show.  I had the great opportunity to work with Davida Simon who is a local makeup artist that has been in the industry for years.  We were a great team.
After our main work was done, we had the opportunity to watch all of the Denver dance auditions.  There were some incredible dancers and the judges had their work cut out for them.  They are now in Memphis holding auditions there.

I want to thank Dance Nation Productions for giving me the great opportunity to join their team if only for a weekend.

Professional Eyebrow Shaping Class $99.00

May 4, 2009 10:00 to 4:00 p.m.
@ Peels
1500 W. Campus Drive
Littleton, CO  80120

Eyebrows are the most important brush stroke on the entire face and the easiest way to change or update your client's look.
  • Make someone look more awake without the surprise affect
  • Correct the appearance of eyes being too close or far set
  • Learn the benefits of painless tweezing versus waxing
Learn from Master Eyebrow Specialist from Los Angeles, California, Donna Kelly.  Donna has been a multi media makeup artist for over 15 years.  She is a licensed cosmetologist in California and Colorado.  Donna had a minimum of a three month waiting list in LA for eyebrow shapings.  Many plastic surgeons in Los Angeles have referred their clients to Donna for and eyebrow shaping first before having a brow lift forehead lift or eyelid procedure done.  It can make that much of a difference!  More and more clients are requesting tweezing only instead of waxing.

Materials Needed:  Slant Tweezers, Large Powder Brush

Must RSVP by April 20, 2009
To register, call Donna at 303-995-6977 or email at donnakelly@mac.com.  Visa and MC accepted.
